Stewardship at Christ the King
Stewardship is the selfless act of taking
the time, talent, and treasure that we have and using for them the
good of the Church and the community. Christ the King is dedicated
to being an active stewardship parish, giving back the gifts God
has blessed us with. It is our role as a missionary Church to not
only preach the Gospel to all people, but to participate in the
corporal works of mercy. Some of the ways Christ the King is commtted
to ongoing stewardship are:
- Monthly feedings of the homeless in Denver.
- Continued financial support of St. Denis school
in Uganda.
- We are the largest donor to Evergreen Christian
Outreach, the Mountain Area center for outreach assistance.
- 10% of our operating budget goes straight to
charities.
- Clothing Drives for the less fortunate.
- An extensive Christmas outreach to our sister
parish, St. Antony of Padua, which provides presents for over
1,000 people who wouldn't receive them otherwise.
- Support of our religious education program which
teaches more than 500 children yearly about Christ.
- Support for a dozen "second collection"
efforts which benefit charities worlwide, all without putting
a single collection basket in the pews.
In addition to our many charitable efforts, we
activly seek caring people to participate in the ongoing outreach
and evangelization ministry of the Church. Every Fall we hold our
"PICKS (Parishioners In Christ the King's Service) Fair"
which gives every parishioner a chance to offer their time and talent
for the good of the community. With over twenty groups and organizations
within the parish, there is something for everyone.
